Visa
Short stay single entry visas (for 7 days) could be obtained at the visa section of Consular Department of Azerbijan's MFA in the H. Aliyev International Airport of Baku, upon arrival. The requirements are: to fill in a visa application form upon arrival, to attach 2 passport-size photos (3x4 cm) and to pay consular fee (USA 131 USD, UK 100 USD, Schengen 80 USD/60 EUR, Turkey 10 USD, Korea/Thailand 50 USD, Australia 65 USD, Canada 65 USD, other countries 40 USD)- cash payments only.CIS-citiziens do not require visa for entering Azerbaijan..

Visitor information
Climate: Baku is known as the windy city. Cold winters and dry breezy summers. Mid-May is the perfect period to visit Azerbaijan with a good chance of clear skies. Mild climate with temperatures ranging from 18-25?C.

Flight information
Azerbaijan Airlines connect Baku with the world. In Europe, you can board one of their Boeing 757 or Airbus 319 flights from London-Gatwick/Heathrow, Paris-CDG or Milan-Malpensa. Coming from Middle East and China, flights are available from Istanbul, Ankara, Aleppo, Tel Aviv, Dubai, Tehran and Urumqi (China). Points of interest
Azerbaijan has an incredible wealth of scenic contrasts, it is famous for caviar and carpets and has curiosities from strange mud volcanoes to fire temples. Baku, the cosmopolitan capital, oozes historical interest from the core of its UNESCO-recognized walled Old City to its grand oil boom architecture. Just an hour or two's drive beyond the city amazingly varied landscapes encompass painted deserts, vineyards, orchards, oak woodlands, snow-capped peaks, iron-wood forests, hilltop castles and magnificient canyons

  • Gobustan: A reserve of history and art containing rock carvings which date from the Stone Age up to the Middle Ages.
  • Yanar Rock (Flaming rock): This rocky slope is covered with flaming torches of escaping methane, which have been burning since the time of Alexander the Great.
  • Atashgah Temple: The fire worshippers' temple in the village of Surakhany is a religious complex dating from the 17th century.
  • Shirvan Shah's Palace (15th to 16th century): Ancient fortress, built when the Shah's capital moved from Shemakha to Baku.

Safety
Azerbaijan is very hospitable and much safer than most Western countries. Violent crime is largely unknown. The political unrest in neighboring counties has not affected Azerbaijan
